Ed Coppinger brings a unique combination of legislative experience, government relations expertise, and a private-sector perspective to help businesses and organizations navigate the intersection of business, government, and public policy.
Before founding Coppinger Strategies, Ed served as Head of Government Affairs at MassBio, where he led the organization’s state and federal government relations efforts, advised member companies on complex legislative and regulatory issues, and developed strategies to advance the interests of Massachusetts' life sciences industry. In this capacity, he collaborated with business leaders, legislators, the Governor's administration, and key stakeholders to navigate challenging policy issues and build consensus around shared priorities.
Prior to his role at MassBio, Ed spent over 12 years as a Massachusetts State Representative for the 10th Suffolk District in Boston. His extensive legislative experience equipped him with firsthand insight into the legislative process, the dynamics of state government, and the importance of cultivating relationships to advance policy objectives.
Additionally, Ed brings valuable private-sector experience from his earlier career in banking, which has given him a profound understanding of the challenges businesses encounter and the implications government decisions can have on their operations and long-term success.
Having worked on both sides of the policymaking process, Ed is well-versed not only in how government decisions are formulated but also in how businesses can effectively engage with policymakers, navigate complex issues, and position themselves for sustained success.
